Tulsa firefighters said four people are forced out of their homes after a fire broke out overnight. A neighbor who saw smoke immediately started knocking on doors to get people away from the fire.

District Chief Douglas Carner said the call came in around 1 a.m. on Monday morning near West 19th Street and Southwest Boulevard. Callers reported lots of smoke coming from one of the homes included in the fourplex.

Carner said firefighters cut holes into the roof to help get the smoke out. Nobody was hurt and the smoke detectors appeared to be working.

“The original caller says she was woken by a neighbor knocking on her front door, that’s how she learned of the fire,” said District Chief Carner.

A neighbor who saw the smoke told News On 6 she knocked on doors trying to get everyone to safety. Investigators said an electrical issue is likely to blame for the fire.
