Tulsa Housing Solutions has launched a new initiative to bring people help and resources directly to their community. Through a $30,000 donation from Onegas, Tulsa Housing Solutions was able to purchase a van fully equipped with the space and resources to go to communities with high rates of evictions.

This comes after the federal eviction moratorium expired last month. Housing Solutions says its Landlord Tenant Resource Center will now have eviction specialists on the ground and in the community five mornings a week to bring resources to communities hit by eviction the hardest. You can request a visit to your housing community or wait for them to come to an apartment complex, community center, or church near you. Any local landlord can contact them on their website to get the van to your neighborhood if your residents need assistance.

They will also be selecting areas based on how many people are up for eviction at this time.

Becky Gligo with Tulsa Housing Solutions says up to 200 people a week are in eviction court and this is a crisis that needs to be controlled.

“Tulsa has always had a housing crisis,” Gligo said. “Obviously covid ramped things up a bit and the moratorium ending means a lot more people can be evicted, but this is something that’s a permanent need for Tulsa that will continue to do well after the impact of covid has gone away.”

All of their services are free to the public and they are always available by calling 211 as well if you can’t wait for them to come to you.

“We will come to you if you ask us to otherwise we are looking at geographical concentrations of high evictors,” Gligo said.
