Our recent stretch of calm, pleasant weather across Green Country is coming to an end with a litany of weather impacts ahead of us the next several days.

First off, summer makes yet another return as we wrap up the week. Temperatures will soar to near-record values this afternoon with highs in the lower to mid-90s, aided by gusty southwest winds. Gusts to 25 miles per hour are expected along with low humidity, which means fire danger is once again a big concern. Please refrain from any outdoor burning! Friday Night Football games will be warm with temperatures still in the 80s.

Friday Highs

Saturday is pretty much a carbon copy of Friday, with hot and windy conditions persisting. Highs will surge back to the lower to mid-90s with southerly winds gusting to 30 miles per hour. Once again, outdoor burning will be highly discouraged. Well above normal temperatures stick with us on Sunday as well, with highs back in the upper 80s to around 90 and gusty south winds as a strong storm system makes its way into the state.

Weekend Fire Threat

Sunday night could be quite rowdy across eastern Oklahoma. A line of strong to severe storms is expected to fire up after dark across Oklahoma, marching east through our side of the state during the late-night and overnight hours into very early Monday. Damaging winds, large hail, and even a tornado threat will all exist with those storms, so make sure you have ways to receive warnings that will wake you up late Sunday night!

Sunday Evening Storm Zone

That strong system looks to exit the state Monday morning, though breezy conditions will continue as gusty westerly winds kick in. Another strong storm system will be on its heels, with additional chances for potentially strong to severe storms returning from Tuesday into Wednesday of next week.

I hope you have a great Friday, Green Country! Stay weather-aware late this weekend! You can also follow me on Twitter @StephenNehrenz as well as my Facebook page Meteorologist Stephen Nehrenz to stay up to date with the very latest.
