Across the metro, there will be places set up where you can toss your unwanted prescriptions drugs Saturday for medication take-back day.
The OBN says 60% of accidental drug overdoses come from prescription drugs that you can find at home. Opioids cause 85% of those deaths.
The goal for this national take-back day is to empty out your unsecured prescription drugs around your house that an opioid addict might get ahold of.
All you have to do is drop off the drugs. It does not require any extra safety measures before dropping it off.
They are not able to accept liquids or inhalers.

Oklahoma had years of downward trends, but just last year, the state hit a new record of deaths leading officials to believe the stress of the pandemic causes this.
"They come from all walks of life. If you could put on glasses and identify who these opioid addicts are, it would scare you to death. They are not all heroin addicts out of the streets. They are soccer moms, police officers, pastors of your church," said Mark Woodward with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics.
If you do not have time to drop these drugs off this weekend, there are 184 drop-off locations available across the state. To find a location, visit: https://www.obndd.ok.gov/how-do-i/find-the-nearest-prescription-take-back-box
