The annual Día De Los Muertos festival is happening Friday in Tulsa.

Festivities start at 4 p.m. and the event is free for anyone who wants to go.

Day of the Dead is a celebration in Latin American culture remembering loved ones who have died.

More than 30 altars are set up inside Living Arts of Tulsa where friends and family have put together photos and favorite items of loved ones who have passed away.

Living Arts of Tulsa is partnering with Casa de la Cultura to host this year's Día De Los Muertos Festival.

The holiday was earlier this week on November 1st and 2nd.

Altars are filled with things like photos, special items, favorite drinks and snacks, candles, and letters.

In Latin American culture, the altars are to remember loved ones and to welcome their soul’s home.

There will be live music featuring local and traditional bands, and dance performances at both Living Arts and Guthrie Green. Plus, there will be plenty of vendors and food trucks.

Near the end of the night, a procession including dancers will go from Guthrie Green down Reconciliation Way and inside Living Arts.

The festival will end in the gallery with a celebration.

"It's a long tradition. It dates back 3,000 years with the Aztecs. Obviously, when the Spaniards came to Mexico, they made a mix. The Spaniards came, and they adapted that tradition with the religion. And so, we now celebrate it,” said Casa de la Cultura Director Francisco Treviño. "It's basically an art form, an art form that we are trying to keep alive."

The festivities will be going on until 10 p.m. on Friday.
