The city of Broken Arrow is decking the halls and getting ready for the holiday season.
"It's a Wonderful Life in BA" is happening on Thursday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
"It's a beautiful area anyway. When it's lit up, it's a Hallmark Christmas movie come alive,” said Rose District Coordinator Brent Brassfield.
The Rose District is getting its list and checking it twice, channeling charm and Christmas spirit. The Christmas tree is in front of the outdoor ice-skating rink on the plaza, and wreaths with big red bows line every light pole along Main Street.
Thursday night, the lights come on at the holiday kick-off. Brassfield says it's quite a production. He says planning and preparations pull in several departments with the city -- and decorations take a couple weeks to set up.
"It's just a fun place to be. A great way to get in the Christmas mood. We got a lot of really, really neat shops down here, a lot of fine restaurants,” Brassfield said.
Along with an official tree lighting around 6 p.m., there will be live music by saxophone player Grady Nichols. Victorian Carolers will perform, and you can take a horse-drawn carriage ride through downtown. Plus, Santa will be there, and your family can take a photo with a couple of his sleighs.
"Come down early, eat, shop our stores, stay late. We're just thrilled. We got a lot of work to do, but it's going to be a lot of fun,” Brassfield said.
The “It’s a Wonderful Life in BA” event is free and open to anyone.
The BA Ice Rink in the Rose District will also be open during the event. You can find ticket information here.
