Green Country School Districts In Distance Learning

As COVID-19 cases hit record highs across Oklahoma and schools face significant staffing shortages, many districts are transitioning students to distance learning.

Below is a list of school districts across Green Country that have transitioned students to distance learning.

Avant Public Schools:

Avant Public Schools announced on Monday that all transition students to distance learning this week from Tuesday, January 18, 2022, to Friday, January 21, 2022.

Barnsdall Public Schools

Bartlesville Public Schools

Bartlesville Public Schools will be transitioning its students to distance learning for the week of January 17th due to a shortage of substitute teachers and other school staff. Details HERE

Berryhill Public Schools:

Broken Arrow Public Schools:

Broken Arrow Public Schools will extend its distance learning plan through January 21, according to a message to families and staff.

Bixby Public Schools:

Bixby Public Schools announced Monday that students at West Elementary, Central Intermediate, and East Elementary will remain in distance learning until Wednesday, January 19, and return on Thursday, January 20.

Students at all other school sites will return to in-person learning on Tuesday, January 18.

Catoosa Public Schools:

Due To staffing issues, Catoosa Public Schools has canceled school on Tuesday, January 18.

Students are not required to check-in virtually.

Classes will resume on Wednesday, January 19.

Collinsville Public Schools will return to in-person learning beginning Monday, Jan. 24. (posted on Jan. 23)

Grove Public Schools

All Grove Public Schools sites will be transitioning to distance learning starting Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Leach Public School:

The school said it will be returning to in-person learning for Monday, Jan. 24, but there will be teachers who are out sick or are quarantined. There are no bus drivers available, so the school will not be able to provide transportation. (posted Jan. 23)

Liberty Public Schools:

Muskogee Public Schools:

Muskogee Public Schools has announced that it will transition students to distance learning for the rest of the week due to rising COVID-19 cases.

Students at all school sites will be in distance learning from Tuesday, January 18 through January 21.

All Activities and athletics are also canceled for the rest of the week.

Oktaha Public Schools:

Oktaha Public Schools announced Monday that grades 9-12 will remain in distance learning through Wednesday, Jan. 19, and will return to school on Thursday, Jan. 20. Grades Pre-K through 8 will return to in-person learning on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

Owasso Public Schools:

Owasso Public Schools interim superintendent Dr. Margaret Coates announced Sunday that all Pre-K through 12th grade classes will be in-person for Monday, Jan. 24. (posted on Jan. 23)

TPS Partially Suspends In-Person Learning At 2 Elementary Schools (posted Jan. 23)

Union Public Schools:

Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 18 and 19, will be distance learning from home for all students at Union Public Schools. The school says many teachers are out sick with COVID-19 and it is not possible to safely staff for in-person school.

Union Schools will begin transitioning some school sites back to in-person learning on Thursday based on the ability to appropriately staff. Beginning Thursday, Jan. 20, these nine schools will go back to in-person learning: Cedar Ridge, Clark, McAuliffe, and Peters Elementary and the Early Childhood Education Center, as well as Union 8th Grade, the Freshman Academy, Union High School, and Alt Ed. We will look at adding other schools next Monday. Due to a severe shortage of bus drivers, there will be no transportation on Thursday and Friday for grades 10-12, including Alt Ed.

Westville Public Schools:

Westville Public Schools will be in session on Tuesday, January 18. Staff will be required to wear masks indoors and students are being asked to wear masks for 2 weeks. Students will return to the classroom on Tuesday, January 18.

WRJH will extend our distance learning from Tuesday, January 18th through Friday, January 21st, with a plan to return to in-person learning on Monday, January 24th.
