President Biden To Speak With Conference of Mayors; Thousands Of Advocates 'March For Life'

President Biden spoke to the nation’s mayors on January 21, thanking them for their support of the bipartisan $1.2 trillion infrastructure package that he signed into law in 2021.

Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt was deeply involved in efforts to shape the historic legislation and was in Washington this week for the U.S. Conference of Mayors annual Winter Meeting.

"Passing [the legislation] was obviously a big emphasis for mayors," said Holt in an interview, "but that’s done now. It doesn’t mean, however, that the work is complete. Now we have years of implementation ahead of us especially with infrastructure projects."

Just a short walk away, thousands of pro-life advocates braved freezing temperatures to rally on the National Mall and then march to the steps of the Supreme Court as part of the 49th annual March for Life.

Supporters are particularly enthusiastic this year, knowing that the conservative-majority Court could potentially weaken, if not overturn, Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 case that legalized abortion in all 50 states.

"This year is especially important," said Sen. James Lankford, "because obviously the Supreme Court is reopening Roe v. Wade and looking at it again."

Lankford, who was among a number of lawmakers recognized at the rally for their support of pro-life legislation, said they are all hopeful the Supreme Court will put an end to what they said is abortion on demand in America.

"I pray that this is the last march that they have on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade because that is no longer at the law of the land in the days ahead," said Lankford.
