Winter weather has arrived in Green Country, blanketing parts of the state in snow and ice.

Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:

Winter storm warnings remain on Thursday and should expire pre-dawn Friday as the last wave of energy exits the state to the northeast. Some moderate to heavy snow bands will exit far eastern OK early Thursday morning but the final upper trough to the west will bring at least another chance for some snow across the region this afternoon and evening. The remainder of precipitation will be mostly light, but there will be a chance to add another 1 to 3 inches of snow on top of the snowpack later Thursday. The vector of the wind may also produce some lake effect snow near and south-southwest of some area lakes. This could bring some scattered snow showers into the Tulsa metro at times throughout the day. But the higher chances will be later Thursday afternoon and evening as the last piece of energy with this system moves across the area.

Winter Weather

Strong northeast winds remain from 20 to 30 mph Thursday morning with wind chill values near or subzero west of the metro. Temperatures will start in the lower teens and only reach the upper teens and lower 20s Thursday afternoon. The broad snowpack across eastern OK will also keep readings colder than likely would be without snow cover for the weekend and we have made those adjustments. This means Friday morning lows will be in the lower teens and single digits with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 20s. Saturday morning we expect a clear sky and light winds. This may allow temps near the lower single digits with afternoon highs nearing 32 to 38. Sunday morning lows in the lower 20s will be followed by highs in the upper 30s. A notable warming trend is likely early next week with afternoon highs reaching the mid to upper 40s Monday and mid to upper 50s Tuesday.
