Brother Remembers Pregnant Sister Who Was Hit & Killed In Wreck

The brother of a pregnant woman killed in a crash a few weeks ago is remembering her as a kind person.

Ben Rubalcava said his sister Michelle was driving home from decorating for her baby shower when she was hit and killed.

Ben said Michelle was a devoted mother to her three kids. She was excited and ready for her new baby girl to get here.

The family has big shoes to fill in her absence.

"She was close with all of us, but there's definitely a big part of the family missing now," he said.

Police said the driver of the other car ran a red light and slammed into Michelle, killing her and her baby.

She was three weeks away from giving birth to her baby girl, Hailey.

Ben said Michelle was excited for the shower because it was what her late husband wanted.

"Her husband actually passed in September also, so Hailey was a name that he had picked, and so she was really excited to have her Hailey for her husband," he said.

Ben said his family's main focus is caring for Michelle's three little kids, two girls and a little boy.

He said it's not fair the kids have lost both parents at such a young age.

"Those kids have had a lot of loss those past months, so we're just trying to fill my sister's shoes the best we can," he said.

Ben said it's been a heartbreaking few weeks and they are hoping for justice.

"As far as we know she wasn't in the wrong. We just hope justice is served. You can't take someone's life and just walk around free," he said.

Police said they are gathering evidence in this case and are pursuing charges against the driver.
