OU-Tulsa said its campus service dog program is growing
They held a demonstration with "Paw-fessor Niko," showing off some of the tasks a service dog can do.
The school said patients often don't realize how much a service dog can help with their recovery.
"Just one example is a young man who had a service dog and he was able to go to school without his mother helping him entering the building. The service dog would actually open the door for him," said Dr. Mary Isaacson, OU Tulsa.
The school hopes the program can eventually grow into graduate-level classes about working with service dogs.
