The Tulsa Botanic Garden will break ground at the end of this month on a new project.
Folks at the Tulsa Botanic Garden are pretty excited about the $4 million project that will create what will be known as the Liberty Garden.
The Tulsa Botanic Garden already has plenty to see, but there will soon be another reason to visit when the peninsula in the middle of the main pond is transformed into something beautiful.
The Liberty Garden will have evergreen trees, pavilions with artisan ironwork, and a flagpole at the end of a large rectangular lawn.
It was mostly made possible by a large donation from the Stanford Family. CEO of the Botanic Garden Chuck Lamson says the pandemic and supply chain issues delayed the project but he says he's excited to see it finally begin.
"The more of these types of things, these new gardens we can do I think the more people become aware of the garden and realize that it's quite a great attraction that we have here," says Lamson.
The garden will be built at the same time as the Lotus Pool project which are side by side.
The Liberty Garden is expected to take about 10 months to complete, with the adjacent lotus pool to be done by the middle of next year.
