The Oklahoma City Thunder and Chicago Bulls are partnering to teach high school students about two tragic events in U.S. History.
Program leaders said this initiative is important because high school students in Tulsa and Chicago will get to learn about the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre and the Chicago Race Riot of 1919.
It's all being done through what's called the 'Black History Classroom Exchange' program.
The Thunder and Bulls launched a partnership last year ahead of the Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial.
Students from McLain High School are participating with high school students in Chicago.
A panel of experts will explain what happened during the Tulsa Race Massacre. Experts will also talk about Chicago's race riot, also known as The Red Summer of 1919.
Leaders said they want to teach students about both events because they are often left out of the school curriculum.
They say the program is designed to inspire students to explore how resilience can help drive change through the arts and culture.
Students will participate in six interactive workshops. The next one is April 6th.
