One of the biggest tournaments in all of bass fishing is here in Green Country this week. Major League Fishing's REDCREST Championship starts Wednesday morning, March 23 at Grand Lake.
The week long MLF Outdoor Sports Expo will be at SageNet Center at the Tulsa Fairgrounds, where fans can watch the tournament live, win prizes and meet the anglers at the end of the day.
The five day REDCREST Championship starts Wednesday at 8 a.m. with 41 of the best anglers in the world competing. After two days of fishing, the field will be cut down to 20, then cut to ten on Championship Sunday.
Major League Fishing is headquartered in Tulsa and has changed the game. It is the only tournament where the anglers know the score all the time, rather than waiting until the end of the day to weigh in fish.
Oklahoma is known for great fishing and the guys say they are excited.
"Grand Lake is a fantastic fishery. It is probably one of the best lakes in Oklahoma. This is an area where there's a lot of outdoors people, people that love to fish and hunt, and that is why we are here. you know, because of that. This expo will be a testement to that. So, if you like to fish or hunt you will want to come to the SageNet Center this weekend,” said MLF Pro Kevin VanDam.
