Dozens of patients said they are worried about what is next for them and their babies, after their OB-GYN doctor at Hillcrest and Utica Park Clinic was suddenly let go. Dr. Brandon Wilson was let go one week ago, and some patients said they found out only when they showed up for their appointments.
Both Hillcrest and Dr. Wilson told News On 6 they cannot talk about what happened.
"No one had answers,” said Amanda Armstrong of Sapulpa. “They were just told he was no longer with the hospital and like, they could see somebody else in the office if they wanted to. People weren't told when they were getting the reminder calls either."
Armstrong has three children, all delivered by Dr. Brandon Wilson. She said her next appointment is in a week, but she canceled it when she found out from social media that Dr. Wilson no longer works at Hillcrest.
"There's just not a lot of people out there that pay attention to the changes that happen to a woman afterwards, and he does,” explained Armstrong. “He will personally come and see you after you have a baby with him.”
Holly Fleshman of Lincoln County said she learned from a friend that Dr. Wilson no longer had a job. Dr. Wilson delivered her first two babies, and Fleshman wants him to deliver her third in July.
"I just hope he finds somewhere quick,” said Fleshman. “That way, we can deliver because we don't want to deliver, I won't deliver with anyone else."
Many of Wilson's patients have been giving Hillcrest positive testimonies about him, in hopes that he could get his job back. They also shared with News On 6 photos of Dr. Wilson with their babies.
Dr. Wilson said out of respect for the situation, he cannot discuss why he lost his job. He thanks everyone for their support and said he would love to be back to work as soon as possible.
"He would go in on his days off or nights that he wasn't on call and help his patients,” said Selena Gomez, a former coworker. “They were really close to him."
Gomez said she worked with Wilson at Hillcrest for five years, until last year when she left for another job. The nurse tech said she and other staff always had a pleasant experience with him.
News On 6 asked Gomez if there a takeaway from this situation.
“Probably keeping your patients in the loop would be a big thing,” said Gomez. “Communication because a lot of women are angry."
Hillcrest called it a "complex situation" and said in a statement, "We are in the process of notifying patients by letter and in person. In addition, our staff is available to help patients establish care with a new provider if they choose."
Hillcrest added, “We recognize the impact this physician has had on the lives of many families. As a matter of policy, we do not discuss medical staff peer review or personnel matters.”
Many of Wilson's patients said they are going to wait it out and support him in the meantime.
"I just want Dr. Wilson to know we all stand behind him, that we're all here for him, and we'll follow him wherever he goes," said Fleshman.
Dr. Wilson still has his license to practice. He said he would love to be back at Hillcrest and will also do what it takes to work to help his patients.
