Council Oak Principal, Union Science Teacher Receive Milken Educator Awards

A Tulsa principal received a $25,000 award to recognize her outstanding leadership.

The Milken Educator Awards honored Council Oak Elementary Principal Aubrey Flowers Friday morning. She was recognized as one of the top educators in the country for her approach to learning and how she works with her colleagues.

A union teacher was also selected for the award. Tamara Danzy is a science teacher at the Union 8th Grade Center and was surprised at an assembly in front of hundreds of students.

Only about 60 educators across the country were selected for the honor.
