Summer heat continues, but some relief could soon be in sight.
Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:
Tuesday will be the hottest day of the week, and possibly the hottest day for the next few weeks. A cold front nears the area later this afternoon bringing scattered storm chances and a notable cool-down Wednesday and Thursday. We'll warm back into the 90s Friday and Saturday before the next system arrives bringing additional storm chances and another reduction in temperature into early next week. The weekend system may be the very beginning of a pattern change that could bring much needed rainfall to the state and a nice stretch of below normal temperatures.
As the front nears the area this afternoon, southwest winds will increase speeds midday before diminishing as the boundary nears later this afternoon. Heating along the I-44 corridor will more than likely bring afternoon highs in the 100 to 105 range. While deeper low-level moisture will be shunted eastward, heat advisories will be required today with both temp and humidity causing issues for the area. A surface low is expected along the boundary. Storm chances occurring this afternoon and early evening will also support damaging winds with mature storms. As the front progresses southward, additional scattered storms will be possible in a few locations. These may linger early Wednesday morning before the cooler and slightly drier air filters into the area by midday. Temps will start Wednesday morning near 70 but may only reach highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s across northern OK with clouds and north winds from 10 to 20 mph. Afternoon highs in the upper 80s are likely across southern sections.
Temps will rise back into the 90s Friday and Saturday before our next system moves nearby Sunday into early next week. I’ll post more about this scenario tomorrow.
Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
Alan Crone
