Students and teachers with one of the state's largest school districts are heading back to the classroom on Wednesday for the first day of school.
Broken Arrow Schools says it ended last school year with nearly 100 job openings, the district will start this year with some of those jobs still open. The district says they're also short about eight bus drivers to begin the new year. Anyone interested in these opportunities is encouraged to apply on the district's website.
New for this year, the district has added a staff daycare center on one of the campuses as a way to attract new candidates to the district. Broken Arrow is also planning to add six more security guards at its campuses, which would bring the total number of guards to 14.
The district also has an app where students can report a threat anonymously.
BAPS is dedicating one Monday as a distance learning day during most months, the first starting on September 12th.
The school day starts at 9:15 a.m. for all elementary students, 8:35 a.m. for middle schoolers and 7:50 a.m. for students in ninth grade and above.
