Many Oklahoma schools are still facing teacher shortages.
The State Board of Education says it gauges the number of teacher openings in the state by looking at the total number of emergency and adjunct certifications.
The state has approved nearly 3,000 emergency certifications for this school year.
The board approved about 1,100 during its meeting last week.
For the last school year, the board approved 3,900 emergency certifications.
10 years ago, there were only bout 100 statewide for the entire school year.
