State question 820 is still in limbo as supporters wait on the state supreme court decision that could put recreational marijuana on the November ballot.

Campaign Director Michelle Tilley said they shouldn't even be here. She said they met requirements months ago, but the state has stalled.

"This is a sacred right," she said. "For us as United State citizens to petition our government. And we have done that, we have gone and gotten our signatures, we have met the threshold and due to government delay now they're not going to let us be on the ballot, it just doesn't seem right."

The "yes on 820" campaign working to legalize marijuana for adults 21 and over collected 20,000 more signatures than needed - and submitted them to the Secretary of State early - but State Question 820 still may not make it on the November ballot.

"Which is why we're asking the supreme court to intervene," Tilley said.

Campaign Director Michelle Tilley said signature counting, which she said normally takes a couple weeks took 48 days.

That pushed the campaign technically past an August 26 print deadline.

"We met with them multiple times to make sure we had everything in order, we sped our count up to 60 days when we had 90 days to do it and the fact that they still weren't able to finish the count in the normal time they were supposed to has been extremely disappointing," Tilley said.

A supreme court decision could force the secretary of state to print state question 820 on the upcoming ballot.

Last week the court announced it would have a decision, but it would come only after the required ten-day signature challenge period is up.
