Warm temperatures stick around after the holiday weekend.
Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:
The state remains between a mid-level ridge to the west and a small upper-level low slightly east. A northerly upper flow continues across most of the state with afternoon highs near or slightly above normal for the next few days. A front is scheduled to arrive for the second half of the weekend, but precipitation chances will remain limited.
The pesky upper-level low that has been positioned across far southeastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas the past few days will move slightly more east today compared to Monday. While the chance for a few more isolated showers and storms will remain across the eastern sections of the state, there will be even fewer on Tuesday. Highs will continue to range from the upper 80s and lower 90s on Tuesday and then mostly lower 90s for the rest of the week regarding afternoon highs. Morning lows in the upper 60s and lower 70s will be likely near the metro with some cooler readings in the valleys of eastern Oklahoma. The upper flow becomes more amplified over the weekend as a strong trough moves across the northern plains this weekend before attempting to form a cut-off type low across the mid-Missouri Valley early next week. This will bring a decent front into the state Saturday evening or early Sunday morning.
Moisture content will be limited but there may be a few showers or storms near this frontal boundary. Data has trended cooler and drier with the post-airmass regime for a few days following the passage. We’ll make some downward adjustments to some of these values for Sunday into early next week.
Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
Alan Crone
