Unseasonably warm temperatures stick around to start the week.
Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:
A cool morning brings another warm afternoon with abundant sunshine and dry conditions. We’re tracking a weak front Wednesday and a strong early fall front arriving later this week bringing some changes for the weekend. But until this arrives, unseasonably warm weather will continue for afternoon highs.
The overall sensible weather will not change much for the next several days, but there will be some minor differences from day to day. Morning lows will be cool, but not as cool as this past weekend. Afternoon highs will be warm and should be a few degrees warmer than this weekend. The upper air pattern is changing, but the lack of significant low-level moisture currently in place, and the persistence of dry air remaining in most model data support a dry forecast through the end of the week. A system will brush the area Wednesday slightly to our north and may squeeze a sprinkle or small shower from a broken cloud deck across far northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas but the chance for any appreciable rainfall remains very low. This boundary brings north winds by midday that will continue Thursday but with very little change in daytime temps.
The second system brings a strong fall front with a notable reduction in both morning lows and afternoon highs. Gusty north winds from 15 to near 30 mph will bring some fall like conditions into the area with afternoon highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s Friday and Saturday. But the probability of any impactful precipitation remains low. The pattern will bring another system near us early next week with a better chance for some rainfall.
Because of the worsening drought combined with the seasonal end of the growing season, as vegetation continues to dry out the fire danger issues will continue to slowly increase. Surface wind speeds across the eastern half of the state will not be exceptionally strong the next few days but will be increasing some by the end of the week, especially as the strong front arrives Friday.
Thanks for reading the Monday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
