The city of Broken Arrow is decking the halls and lighting its Christmas tree with its annual holiday tradition.
Thursday’s event is the kick-off to a season of holiday activities downtown bringing the Christmas spirit to Broken Arrow. When you stroll down Main Street in the Rose District, you'll see wreaths hung on light poles leading to a giant Christmas tree in the plaza. With the tree lighting happening Thursday evening, the celebration includes live music, horse-drawn carriages, and an open ice rink.
The event is a tradition, but Marketing and Communications Coordinator Erin Hofener say there are a few additions this time.
"This year, the main difference is we have a lot more characters coming to visit us, so we have that Inspyral Circus, the grinch will be here, Santa, of course, is always here,” Hofener said.
Plus, the festivities reach from the Rose District Plaza all the way to the Brio. You can also shop for unique gifts at a craft show.
"I think that's just coming together as a family, looking at the beautiful Christmas down here, skating at the ice rink, meeting Santa for free. That's just what brings everyone together for the holiday season, coming together as a community,” Hofener said.
The Christmas event is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
