More than 60,000 people are expected to attend Tulsa’s "Affair of the Heart" shopping event at the fairgrounds.
There are more than 300 small businesses at the event and you can find everything from food, clothing, and home decor.
There are approximately 500 booths onsite for this popular bi-annual event. Taylor Strycker is the owner of Taenikole, a small local business that has been open since 2019. She says it is her sixth time attending Affair of the Heart where she gets to sell handmade polymer clay earrings.
"This event really helps us reach people that we wouldn't have reached before online. So, we have a lot of women that are not on social media, or they don't get on Facebook so they can't see us. So were able to reach those people. People are able to see our earrings in person, feel how lightweight they are, they’re able to look at the colors. There's only so much a picture can do online," Strycker said.
Organizers of this event tell me there are retailers from across the country here as well as local vendors and it’s a great way to shop small.
"This is the 37th year in Oklahoma and the 27th year in Tulsa. It started as just a very small show with eight friends who wanted to go into business together and it has just grown and grown over the 37 years,” Ware said.
Lori Wedel says she has attended Affair of the Heart for a couple of years and now she gets to bring her mother who has recently moved to the area along for the fun.
"We're having a good time shopping together looking for Christmas gifts and any other big finds," Wedel said.
Sunday is the last day and doors will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10.
