A highway safety study found the majority SUVs don't pass a safety test for backseat passengers.

Of 15 small SUVs tested, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found that nine of them got a "poor" rating.

Two of those vehicles include two of the year's best selling small SUVs: the Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson.

The institute said the lack of auto-tightening the loosening capability for rear seatbelts poses the greatest risk to back seat riders.
