Tulsa Performing Arts Center Increases Security For Hamilton

People heading to watch Hamilton at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center Will notice extra security.

That means you may end up waiting outside for a while. The famous Broadway musical “Hamilton” is in Tulsa for the next two weeks, and fans have been packing the PAC.

"The emotions,” said Chaz Stephens. “You just feel every song, you feel all the dancing."

"I was scared about seeing with a different cast, you never know, but it was just as good,” said Misty Davis.

Some people, especially ones who come to the PAC several times a year, weren’t expecting all the extra security.

"I was a little surprised,” said Betty-Jo Anderson. “We come here frequently, and so I haven't really had the line outside with the security, but it was no problem."

The company that brought the show says Hamilton requires a stronger level of security than other shows.

"We got a good system down and it's pretty quick, but we encourage patrons to come early,” said Kristin Dotson, CEO of Celebrity Attractions.

Dotson says the venue decided to go this route after Hamilton came to Tulsa back in 2019.

"It's been a learning process,” said Dotson. “The first time that we had Hamilton, we did the security inside, but because of the size of this lobby, and everything else that happens in the lobby, with the bar and the concessions and the merchandise, it just didn't work."

People say that even though it’s added extra time to their wait, they would rather have too much security than not enough.

"I'm always willing to trade a little convenience for the idea of being safe," said Anderson.
