People living along a Fort Gibson road are frustrated because they say a construction project has made the road undriveable.
The people who live on County Line Road in Fort Gibson say it's been more than two years since a contractor tore up their road, and it's been a nightmare for them ever since.
Chris Rogers lives on County Line Road and says the ongoing construction has been tough for his family.
"We've got school buses from two different school districts that drive up and down this road and our daughter has actually told us, 'Dad, I was a little scared today because the bus started sliding on the road,’” said Rogers.
He says it's also a health concern for some residents.
"We've got elderly people out here that rely on home healthcare aides, so they're having to drive up and down the road trying to get to their houses trying to get them the care that they need," said Rogers.
Morgan Waters lives there too and says the project has been costly due to loose rocks on the road.
"We've had to replace a windshield already, we've had to replace the radiator in my car, we've had to get front end work done in my car, our other vehicle we don't even bother taking it into the shop," said Waters.
She says she understands these projects take time, but she's worried it won't get finished.
"I get that this is a country road and I've had people tell me, 'well you live in the country, you're going to have to drive dirt roads,’” said Waters. “One, this wasn't a dirt road to begin with. And two, it's ok to have to deal with something for a year, but we're going on two years."
This is a Cherokee Nation Road Project, and the tribe says, “the Cherokee Nation shares the residents' concerns with the completion of the Northeast Fort Gibson Phase II (County Line Road) project and gave the contractor a deadline of [last] Thursday. We look forward to the completion of this roadway.”
Rogers hopes he can get answers about the project soon.
"Again, we don't have any choice,” said Rogers. “No, I don't like driving up and down the road every day, but it's where we live."
News On 6 reached out to the contractor responsible for this project but have not yet heard back.
