Investigators are looking into the death of a woman who was found inside her West Tulsa home, after a fire.

Family members said the victim is Ashley Corona who worked at Tulsa Public Schools in the bus barn.

Investigators believe her death is suspicious. There are some red flags in this case, investigators said.

Ashley's family members believe Ashley was killed, then someone set her house on fire.

Family members said Ashley just went to work and came home every day and loved helping animals. They said three of Ashley's dogs died in the fire.

Firefighters got called to the home around 10 Thursday night and after quickly putting out the fire, they found Ashley unconscious in a bedroom.

Firefighters tried to save her life, but she died later at a hospital.

"In the room where the victim was found, it did have smoke damage, but there was not charring or fire damage like fire had entered that room,” said Andy Little with the Tulsa Fire Department.

Investigators haven't released many details on why they think Ashley's death is suspicious, but said this now a joint investigation with police to determine if there was any foul play.

"Neighbors have made some comments, family members have made some comments, so we will do our due diligence to follow through with all of that,” said Little. "There was a lot of damage on the exterior of the structure. It does appear the fire was started on the exterior of the building, at the doorway and traveled inside."

Investigators said they are determined to get answers for the family.

"It is certainly more difficult for them than it is for us. They knew and loved this person. We want to do everything we can to get them answers, but there is a process. While there is certainly an urgency from family members and loved ones, we want to be thorough and make sure we don't make any mistakes,” said Little.

The medical examiner will now determine Ashley's cause of death. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
