Dept. Of Corrections Employee Injured After Being Accidentally Shot In Hominy

A Department of Corrections employee was injured after a gun was accidentally discharged on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

A correctional officer was clearing his firearm to enter the Dick Conner Correctional Center in Hominy when he accidentally shot his own leg, authorities said.

The officer was taken to a local hospital. Authorities said the officer's injuries appear to be non-life-threatening.
