Freddie's BBQ and Steak House closed its doors back in 2022, and now the restaurant is giving everyone a chance to own a piece of Sapulpa history by auctioning off thousands of the items used in the restaurant.
Owner Sherian Slyman said that it was time to close the doors after her husband died, but she knew that Freddie's is a part of Sapulpa history and that some people might be interested in owning a piece of that history.
"I’m just ready to sell everything, and I have lots of stuff to sell in here. There’s a lot of catering stuff and a lot of all pieces of Freddie's that they can take with them if they want it, and anybody is welcome to come," Slyman said.
On May 1, starting at 11 a.m., people can head over to Freddie's in Sapulpa to participate in an auction. Everything from cups and plates to tables and stoves will be up for auction. It will include almost everything gathered from over 60 years in the industry.
While some people, including Swick's auctioneer Jeff Schwickerath, hope that someone might pick up the Freddie's name and recipes in the future, it's still a good opportunity for people to relive some of their fondest memories at Freddie's.
"I think a lot of people want to come and buy one item just to have of Freddie's history and something they can put on the shelf and have a memory of," Schwickerath said.
The auction will take place at the event center next to Freddie's and will run from 11 a.m. through most of the day.
