2 Die From Suspected Overdoses After Traffic Stop In Bartlesville

Bartlesville Police say two people died this week from suspected overdoses after a traffic stop.

Officers say they pulled over James Chucalate Monday night. Police say they released him, but arrested his passenger, Jeffery Hawkins, on a warrant.

According to police, shortly after being booked into jail, Hawkins began having seizures and died at the hospital. Police say around the same time, officers responded to an overdose call. According to police, that call turned out to be the driver, who also died at the hospital.

Police say neither man showed signs of being sick or under the influence and they believe the two men swallowed the drugs during the traffic stop.

The medical examiner will now determine the causes of death.
