Tulsa Warbirds Honor Fallen Soldiers With Flyover Tributes Across Green Country

The Tulsa Warbirds took flight Monday to honor the fallen with flyover tributes in Tulsa, Bixby and Broken Arrow.

Flight Leader Paul Mackey noted after flying over Floral Haven, and Memorial Park Cemeteries, that he had many old friends buried at each.

“Though to us it seems like a routine flight, it's not to the people watching” he said.

For 15 years, he and a group of volunteer pilots have taken their historic airplanes up for memorial tributes.

Their largest display is at Grand Lake on July 4th, but they also fly on Labor Day and for veterans funerals throughout the year.

At Memorial Park, families were tending graves of fallen service members, and family.

“We always come out Memorial Day morning to decorate the graves. It's something that's happened my whole like. Come out here Memorial Day and remember our loved ones” said Valorie Murry.
