The national "Wear Orange Weekend," is encouraging people to gather and honor the lives affected by gun violence.

Moms Against Action Oklahoma is hosting an event where people can donate blood and learn safety tips.

‘Wear Orange’ started in 2013 to honor the life of a 15-year-old who was shot and killed in Chicago.

Kay Malan is one of the event organizers and she said the event is about raising awareness for gun violence and how to prevent it.

Malan helped organize the Tulsa event and explains why she and others wear orange.

Kay Malan says “wearing orange, orange is the color that symbolizes the value of each person and we wear orange to honor the victims and survivors of gun violence.”

The event will be from 9;00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
