A man who pleaded guilty to shooting and killing a local musician has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
Chris Bratton was trying to break into cars outside a Tulsa bar in July 2021, and when Nathan Hull confronted him, Bratton shot and killed him.
Nathan Hull's family says while they are relieved the court process is over, there's no such thing as justice and nothing will bring Nathan back.
"My brother is never coming back, justice just doesn't exist in my mind," said Nathan's sister Crystal Sage.
Nathan's family and friends were in the courtroom as the judge sentenced Chris Bratton to 40 years in prison for killing Nathan in July of 2021.
Jessica Morrison and Nathan have a son together, and she says there was no one on earth like Nathan.
"He will be forever gone, my son will be raised without a dad, his daughters will be raised without their dad," Jessica said.
Jessica read a victim impact statement about how she had to tell her son he would never see his dad again, and read one on Crystal's behalf of what life has been like without her brother.
"I really thought there would be some closure, obviously there is never going to be closure, there is no such thing as justice, our loved one Nate will never come back to us," she said.
Jessica says the family misses Nathan's laugh, hugs and kindness every day, and her focus now is keeping Nathan's memory alive.
"Just making sure my son always realized how loved he was, and how his dad would have been here for all of these things, and to just know he's with him regardless," she said.
Bratton's attorney did tell the court that Bratton did write the family a letter apologizing for what he did.
