The ORU baseball team is heading to the Super Regionals for the first time since 2006 after winning this weekend's regional in Stillwater.
The Golden Eagles will travel to Oregon to play a series against the Ducks. Whoever wins will go on to the College World Series.
The team said making it to the Super Regionals was one of its specific goals this season, and the team is excited to have met that goal.
Head Coach Ryan Folmar said he doesn't think their focus is a whole lot on Oregon, but said this year they really focused on who ORU is as a team; their identity and their strengths.
Even with their eyes set on Omaha for the College World Series, ORU Athletic Director Tim Johnson is hopeful that just making it to the Super Regionals will have a huge impact on the school.
"We're not done yet, K. We wanna get to Omaha, we think we got a team that can win the whole thing. But I do think this will help us renovate the stadium. I think it'll help us do things in the locker room, and the lounge, and the coaches facilities, places you're standing here. We've already got plans for this facility and I hope this helps ignite some of those plans a little quicker than we had anticipated,” Johnson said.
The university said it will host watch parties in Tulsa, just like it has for March Madness.
Once the game times are announced on Tuesday, ORU will have more details on that.
