Woman Injured, Man In Custody After Shooting In Pryor, Authorities Say

A woman was injured and a man is in custody after a shooting in Pryor on Friday, authorities said.

The incident happened near South Mill Street and West Graham Avenue in Pryor.

Authorities identified the suspect as Brady Crawford.

"I've been in this neighborhood most of my life and this is the first time I've ever had this happen,” Wes Houston said.

Houston lives next door to the house where the shooting happened and said he heard a loud pop while renovating a room, and went outside to investigate.

"It sounded like a gunshot. It really did. I've been around guns most of my life and I knew it was a gun,” Houston said.

Pryor Police said it all started during an argument at a house where the woman was shot inside.

The victim was able to make it outside and went to a neighbor's house for help, police said.

"We believe that she - the incident took place in the house where she got shot at, she went across the street to a neighboring house, and that's where 911 was called. The suspect never came outside that we know of, until officers arrived on scene and called him out,” Pryor Creek Police Chief Jeremy Cantrell said.

Pat Godard said she was watching TV in her living room when she heard the victim banging on the front door.

“She was beating on the door, 'let me in. let me in. I've been shot. I've been shot. I'm dying. I'm dying,' and I said 'No, you ain't been dying,'” Godard said.

Godard laid the victim on the porch and stabilized her while she held pressure on the gunshot wound.

"What was sad was his dog came over here and laid beside her. Yeah, that was sad,” Godard said.

Neighbors said police arrived shortly after the shooting, and that’s when officers ordered the man out of the house and arrested him.

"Could have been me. What a way to retire,” Houston said.

Pryor Police said Brady Crawford is being held in the Mayes County Jail for Shooting With Intent to Kill.

Paramedics flew the victim to the hospital and she is now out of surgery and expected to recover, police said.
