The Oklahoma City Thunder, in partnership with the Oklahoma City Police Department and OG&E, unveiled a revamped community basketball court Saturday morning.

Despite the rain, a crowd gathered for the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Christine Berney, Vice President of Community Engagement for the Oklahoma City Thunder said, "The kids are having a good time and they don't care if it's raining."

The kids were shooting hoops with Thunder players and dancers despite the weather.

"The kids in the community, you always want a safe place for them to come and be," said Vashina Butler, Deputy Police Chief with OCPD.

"This was our very first community court that the thunder did," said Berney.

But they're not stopping there. The thunder said this is the first of thirty courts it plans to revitalize across the state.

Berney says, "They're really a place of gathering for generation after generation. We want to make sure they stay in good shape. All of those courts need some love, all of those courts have been around for years.”

The project will take years, but they're committed to the goal.

OG&E will play a role in the re-energization of all the community basketball courts.
