The Tulsa Edition of Monopoly is officially available.
While mostly everyone is familiar with Monopoly, Tulsans can now see their favorite local spots in the Tulsa edition.
"I didn't think I would be this excited about it, I thought okay we'll be on the board, but now that I'm here and I see everybody, it's like wow I'm on the board," said Labrena Shamsi.
Labrena Shamsi owns Dasi Wok, an Indian Restaurant in Tulsa.
She says she grew up playing Monopoly, so seeing her business on the board is surreal.
"It means a lot because my restaurant has been around 17 years, and I feel like it is part of Tulsa, I've lived here my whole life, and I just want everyone to know about my restaurant and what my food is like," she said.
There are 26 spots on the board from the Tulsa Zoo to Guthrie Green.
Mayor G.T. Bynum says so many people wanted to be a part of this game.
"I love that because it shows how passionate Tulsans are about where we are as a community right now and their desire about wanting to be a part of this really exciting project," he said.
But, some people are a part of the game without even realizing it.
Cassandra and Mac Mecoy were helping out their friend who was working on the board by going to take a picture of the Center of the Universe.
They took a few outtakes with their little girl Lenora, and sent them in, not expecting them to be used.
"It wasn't expected we didn't go take the picture with the expectation of her being on the board, the way that turned out is pretty cool," Mac said.
Mac says they have a room in their house filled with board games, but they now know which one will be Lenora's favorite.
"I think it will keep her sticking with Monopoly for a long time," he said.
The Tulsa Edition will be available for about $40 at the following locations: Arvest Winterfest, Cain's Ballroom, Circle Cinema, Discovery Lab, FirsTitle & Smith Brothers Abstract, Gathering Place, Ida Red General Store, Israel Diamond Supply, Juniper Restaurant, Outsiders House Museum, Shady Keys, Tulsa Area United Way, and the Tulsa Zoo.
The following places are not listed to be selling the game, but are also included on the board: Admiral Twin Drive-In, Desi Wok, Emergency Infant Services, Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Greenwood Rising, LIFE Senior Services, McNellie's Pub, OU-Tulsa, Tulsa Dream Center, University of Tulsa, Vast Bank and Victory Christian School.
While not included on the board, the game is also being sold at Harwelden Mansion and Church Studios.
