Peak Travel Days For The Season Begin At Tulsa International Airport

Experts said this could be the busiest holiday travel season in years, with peak days for travelers being the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and the Sunday after.

If you're flying out of Tulsa International Airport on Wednesday, there haven't been any problems as of yet. All flights are currently on time.

People were lined up to get through security as early as 4 a.m. at TIA.

Travelers leaving Tulsa may run into delays elsewhere though, as several storm systems across the country could impact flights.

There are nearly 50,000 flights scheduled across the country for November 22.

That's prompting the FAA to open airspace along the East Coast that's usually reserved for the military, to help ease congestion.

"While we can't control the weather, we will also be using every tool at our disposal to keep cancellations and delays as low as possible," said Pete Buttigieg.

Tulsa International Airport wants to remind the public about its new visitor pass program, which lets people who aren't flying go through security and meet their loved ones at the gate.

While people do plan on flying for this holiday, an estimated 49 million Americans will be hitting the road.

AAA said Wednesday before 11 a.m. is the best time to travel. The worst time will be between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
