Oklahoma State quarterback Alan Bowman has been granted an additional year of eligibility following a successful waiver request submitted to the NCAA.

After spending the 2018, 2019, and 2020 seasons at Texas Tech, the 2021 and 2022 seasons at Michigan, and the 2023 season at Oklahoma State, 2024 will mark his seventh season of college football.

"Alan met the criteria for an extension of his eligibility due to his season-ending injury in 2019 combined with redshirting at the University of Michigan," OSU's Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance Ben Dyson said. "We appreciate the assistance of the Texas Tech training staff for providing us the documentation we needed to quickly process our waiver request."

Bowman, who started three games in 2019 before injury derailed the rest of his season that year, finished 2023 ranked among OSU's all-time leaders in several single-season categories including passing yards (seventh with 3,460), pass completions (fourth with 304) and yards of total offense (10th with 3,484). His passing yardage total also ranked No. 15 in the FBS for the year.

Despite limited playing time in each of the first three games of 2023, Bowman finished the season ranked second in the Big 12 in passing yards per game and led the conference in both pass attempts and completions. He averaged 285.9 passing yards per game in Big 12 play.

Bowman had five 300-yard passing games during the season and surpassed 200 passing yards in all 11 games he played as the full-time starter.

His best performance came in the Cowboys' TaxAct Texas Bowl win over Texas A&M to close the season as he passed for 402 yards and two touchdowns to set TaxAct Texas Bowl and Oklahoma State bowl records, mark a season-high in passing yards and mark the most passing yards allowed by the SEC's best defense all year.
