A Braggs middle school teacher is in jail for accusations of sexual misconduct with a student.
Muskogee County deputies arrested James Miller after they received a tip just after Christmas.
Their investigation led them to arrest Miller, who taught social studies, history, and computer science at Braggs Middle School.
They arrested Miller on suspicion of second-degree rape, first-degree rape by instrumentation, sexual battery, and other crimes.
Braggs Public Schools released the following statement:
Because student safety and well-being is our top priority at Braggs Public Schools, we were saddened to learn of allegations of inappropriate conduct by a teacher towards a student. Our school is cooperating with law enforcement as the matter is being investigated. Because this is a personnel issue, the name of the staff involved is confidential. The school will continue to do everything it can to protect its students.
He's currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
