Man Arrested After Rollover Wreck Kills Bixby High School Student

Bixby Police arrested a man they say caused a crash that killed his teenage daughter before running from the scene.

Bixby officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover on Thursday evening near 171st and Mingo where Shelby Binney was ejected from the car and later pronounced dead. They said that two other juveniles and an adult were also transported to the hospital.

Officers said the driver, Elliot Binney, fled the scene after the collision but was later located and detained in Checotah. He has been charged with first Degree Manslaughter, Leaving the Scene of a Collision Resulting in Death, and Passing in a No Passing Zone.

Police confirm that Shelby Binney is the daughter of Elliott Binney.

Bixby Public Schools Superintendent Rob Miller announced in a statement that they would offer counseling to students and staff.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
