Family and Children's Services has opened a new clinic near 51st and 129th Avenue.

The new space will provide outpatient mental health resources for adults.

"We're going to serve the whole community here, we're going to do walk-in, we're going to do therapy, counseling, psychiatry," said CEO Adam Andreassen.

Andreassen says in the last five years, Family and Children's Services has helped more than 55,000 adults.

He says the pandemic helped reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues and encouraged people to get help.

"What that has done on the flipside of the pandemic is put a focus even more on how much growing we all need to do," he said.

The new office is next to what will soon become the city's Public Safety Center.

Police Chief Wendell Franklin says his department has several programs with Family and Children's Services that help both the public and his officers.

"It gives them more options, more tools that they can use; we want to go to a call one time, and handle that call, and getting professional people that have the ability to help, that's top-notch, that's what we want," Chief Franklin said.

Chief Franklin says this new clinic fills a need for so many people.

"As the needs for Tulsa grow, there are entities that grow with it, and family and children services has just been phenomenal," he said.

Andreassen says there is room to expand within the building and hopes to one day provide children's services from this location.
