Chef Colin Sato, with Et Al., was putting the finishing touches on some chili with his 13-year-old sidekick, Nathan.

“Cooking is my lifelong passion; I’ve loved it longer than anything else,” Sato said.

It’s a passion he now gets to share with kids like Nathan at Tuesday's Global Gardens Cooking Camp.

"We’ve talked about how if we would've had an experience like this when we were around this age, we probably would’ve become chefs ten years earlier and twice as skilled," said Sato.

Michelle Palestina with Global Gardens says this is all to curate the perfect menu for their upcoming Glow Gala.

“Our students basically chose dishes that represent them, their families, their culture, and their background,” she said.

“Empanadas, and I chose it because it just reminds me of childhood memories,” said a student.

Each dish tells a story and carries the fresh ideas these young chefs bring to the kitchen. Proving food brings people together and lets the talents of the next generation shine.

“It's just really nice to see them feel empowered, feel like they can do the things that they dream,” said Palestina.

The gala will take place on April 6th. For more information, click here.
