We are kicking off the first day of Women's History Month with women who are reviving history. Steel Magnolias is an all-women armored combat fighting team based in Tulsa.
Tamara Marrow, the chapter president, and teammates Kara Bailey and Sarah McDermott are modern-day warriors spearheading a movement toward a sport that's growing in popularity worldwide.
Tamara joined News On 6 on the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to share more.
"So we get together in 15th-century armor. And we compete nationally and internationally. We go fight, travel, and fight in castles," Tamara said.
The group, which was established in 2020, is kicking off the first day of Women's History Month with women who are reviving history. Tamara said that some of the women on the armored combat fighting team are mothers, architects, doctors, and social workers.

In the past, the Steel Magnolias has been asked to travel to Scotland to help train a few cast members of Outlander. Right now, they are hoping to fundraise to fly out a Ukrainian armored combat fighting team to compete and train with them. They will be raising funds for Ukrainian families.
Each teammate has custom-made armor and they work with someone who creates historical armor. That person is coming in from Mexico to get measurements soon for new armor.
The group has some upcoming events for those who may be interested in the idea:
Everyone is welcome to train with the armored combat teams of Tulsa. Co-Ed Practice every Sunday 3p-5p at Smash Something located at 3005 S. Sheridan Road Tulsa, OK
