Friday was International Women’s Day, and two ladies from Sand Springs are starting a drive to help women get items they might need.
They’re collecting purses and filling them with necessities.
Just as notes and chords connect to create a melody, Tina Bill creates a connection with the people who enter Firey Music Shop.
"We knew buying the store that it wasn't going to be just a business," Tina said.
Yes, this is her livelihood, but for Tina it's not about selling guitars--it's about the people and serving them in any way she can.
"I have always saw people in a different way I kind of think,” she said. “I just see that person through whatever the circumstance may be and just choose to love. I just have always loved people."
To show that love, Tina started a drive to help women in need. From deodorant to hair ties, Tina is collecting items to stuff into purses.
"I don't know how to explain it, but if you're a woman, you'll get it. It’s just something that we reach for, our purse. It may seem very small but sometimes it just starts the building of I have something that's mine again," she said.
She started the drive with her friend Lisa, who at one point was just a customer.
"She knows I love to reach out and help people, and she does too, and she's a wonderful lady, so we just brainstormed and thought this is what we are supposed to do," said Tina.
They're used to packing up guitars, and now they’re packing up purses.
Creating connections with people who enter her shop in a new way.
You can drop off items all month long until March 29th.
