Tulsa Police has released body camera video of a man driving drunk who almost crashed head-on into an officer's patrol car, then led officers on a pursuit that ended at a QuikTrip.
The pursuit happened the day after Christmas and Edward Barrera pled guilty last month and was given three years’ probation.
Police say they noticed Edward Barrera because he was driving near 41st and Garnett with a flat tire and sparks were flying. Police say an officer was at a stop light and Barrera almost slammed into the officer's patrol car. They say Barrera drove in and out of the same QuickTrip parking lot three times, trying to get away from officers.
They say Barrera made U-turns in the middle of the street trying to get away.
Police say they couldn't give Barrera a field sobriety test because he kept yelling cuss words at them. Police say they found several open beer bottles inside Barrera's car.
Records show Barrera pleaded guilty to DUI last summer and was given a one-year deferred sentence. This time, he pled guilty to DUI, endangering others while running from officers and leaving the scene of a crash, and got a three-year deferred sentence.
