GRAND Mental Health launched a new pilot program on Monday that introduces its services to rural areas in Oklahoma.
The pilot program is called ‘GRAND Care-A-Van Mobile Mental Health Access,’ and leaders say it's all about bringing their services to often-forgotten communities.
GRAND Mental Health is a certified community behavioral health center and mental health and substance abuse agency serving 13 counties in Oklahoma.
Amy Garrison with GRAND says there are many people who may need their services but are not aware they exist or are unable to access them due to travel restrictions.
She says instead of residents traveling to the closest GRAND clinic, the agency is bringing the enrollment process to them.
The GRAND Care-A-Van will visit a different location each day, offering free snacks and educating people on which services they are eligible for at no cost.
These services include individual counseling, family therapy, housing support, job placement assistance, court support, Medicaid enrollment, and more.
“So, the process really will be just coming in, either learning about the service that we have or we will have availability to start screenings on-site with individuals and get them opened up into our services,” Garrison said.
The van will be in Cushing, Oklahoma Monday starting at 9 a.m. and will be there until 6 p.m.
