A Claremore bakery combines sweet treats with tea parties, hosting everyone from young to old.

Teatime Bakery has been open for a year and the two women in charge hope to continue serving their community.

The owners of Teatime Bakery always wanted to open up a place like this but last year, the timing was right.

They love combining custom baked goods with a space to host tea parties.

From the teal and pink décor, quaint, vintage knickknacks adorning the walls, and the rows of baked goods lining the display cases, Teatime Bakery is a sweet little spot.

“I always wanted to have a bakery but didn't know when,” said Julie Bowers.

Bowers has been decorating cakes for decades for family and friends and would sell them on the side.

Her co-owner, Amber Leamy, would often buy Julie's goodies for her tea parties.

“We would have tea parties at our church,” said Leamy. “They would ask me to help get it together.”

“She was like have you thought about a business, and I was like, ‘Yep, I have,’” Bowers said.

Last year, a space close to downtown Claremore came open, and the two thought they could combine forces: tea parties and treats.

“We keep cookies, cupcakes, cake balls, cakes, pies in the case daily,” said Bowers.

Julie is decorating a six-inch Funfetti cake.

“I was going to do a border along the bottom,” she said.

She piped almond buttercream and added fondant flowers and leaves.

Teatime Bakery offers other things, like iced and boba tea.

They also have a few lunch selections; the chicken salad sandwich is their most popular.

“A little pineapple, green onion, pecans,” said Leamy.

Her recipe is a customer favorite.

“The secret's in the sauce,” she said.

It is served on a croissant or bread of your choice, and you can get it as a box lunch with chips, a pickle and a cookie.

Teatime Bakery is known for its tea parties, that combine the tea of your choice with a tower of sweets and sandwiches.

After a sip of vanilla almond tea, we sampled that chicken salad sandwich on some cute bread, along with the pimento cheese.

“It has crushed red pepper in it,” said Bowers.

And a cupcake for dessert.

“Even if it's not on the menu, we’ll do it,” Bowers said.

She says she takes pride in her customized creations and is up for a challenge when it comes to bringing a dream to reality.

The two ladies say their community support keeps them going, and they invite everyone to take a seat, pour a cup of tea, and dive into something decadent.

Teatime Bakery is at 119 W Blue Starr Dr., Claremore, OK 74017.
