The Tulsa County District Attorney will not drop the charges against Chiefs Superfan Xaviar Babudar. A federal judge in Missouri sentenced Babudar to 17 and a half years in federal prison this week.
Babudar pleaded guilty in federal court in Missouri to robbing bank employees across the country, including one in Bixby, in order to fund a lavish lifestyle of going to Kansas City Chiefs games all over the country. Bixby is where Babudar first got caught.
“I was sitting there thinking they are going to sentence him to a bazillion years, which is what he deserves. He should never be walking the streets again,” said Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler.

Kunzweiler and the attorney for the Bixby victim say 17 and a half years is flat-out not enough for pointing a gun in a bank employee's face. Kunzweiler says he will fight tooth and nail to get Babudar back to face an Oklahoma judge or jury.
“There are no deals with Tulsa County. We're going to bring him back here and we are going to prosecute him, consecutive, whatever he gets in the federal system, and for good reason,” said Kunzweiler.
Kunzweiler says Babudar needs to be brought back to Oklahoma to face his charges of robbing a Bixby bank employee at gunpoint in 2022. Babudar is already heading to federal prison for 17 and a half years in prison for robbing 11 banks in eight states. Kunzweiler says that isn't enough time for the trauma those victims endured.
“I want her to be able to have her day in court, not as much as just filling out a victim impact statement, I want her to be able to face the guy who put her in a position where she was going to die and I want her to be able to overcome that,” said Kunzweiler.
After the Bixby robbery, Babudar was in custody in Tulsa until a judge lowered his bond, then Babudar bonded out, cut off his ankle monitor and escaped. He robbed two more banks, before being arrested in California months later. Federal prosecutors have said they don't want Babudar back in Tulsa since this is where he got free.
“I don't buy off too much on anybody in the federal system somehow saying we let him go. I didn't let him go, and I want him back,” said Kunzweiler.
Frank Frasier is the attorney for the Bixby bank employee and supports Kunzweiler's fight.
“I'm proud. He needs to,” said Frasier, “A little bit of the integrity of Tulsa County's judicial system is at stake here because of this guy with this record, and what he'd done, getting out on bail, asking to go to the Super Bowl, there was some egg on some faces.”
Frasier says the woman still has not gone back to work because of the trauma the robbery caused.
“One of the things that made her mad is the notoriety this guy got,” said Frasier. “She's doing better. It's like one day at a time kind of a thing. It's a process, it is a real journey for her and her family.”
Kunzweiler says he will now file a request with the Federal Bureau of Prisons to have Babudar brought back to Tulsa to face his charges.
